The signature Ompota headdress from Mucubal, Angola

The Ompota headdress and the head scarf are signature head gear worn by Mucubal women. Mucubal people stay in the south of Angola, and they are a semi-nomadic subgroup of the Herero people.

The Ompota headdress is “made of a wicker framework, traditionally filled with a bunch of tied cow tails, decorated with buttons, shells, zippers and beads.” Eric Laffogue.
